My daughter has 2 male guppies in a 5 litre tank - they were both fine for about 6 weeks now 1 is hiding?

He is hiding under an ornament and we don't see him at all. When I go to check to see if he is dead I lift up the ornament and he swims out - then goes back under when I put it down. He also seems to be changing to a darker colour.
