Would it a be a good thing if I spoke to this guy?

Theres this guy who I used to text and we could speak for hours it was a few times a week. Then 7 weeks later we stopped he stopped replying then christmas we started again but don't speak as long. He always using smileys in his texts to me and acts witty sonetimes. This guy goes to my school and in the year above. I had never spoken to him before then I spoke to him the other day I knew he would'nt do it first he looked in to my eyes as we spoke walking together and was smiling as we walked towards the lockers. Then a week later the next time he saw me he spoke to me first and my friend was there but he was talking to me same thing smiling looking in to my eyes. I haven't spoken to him in 2 weeks he had exams then we had a week off school. Today I was standingwaiting to go into cl with my friends and people. I was looknig at him and he had walked past then he saw me walked over and gave my friend(different one) a dictionary he borrowed he is friends with her brother. He looked at me before he gave it to her he didn't talk though. I see him alot at his locker its in a different area to mine shoukld I walk over and speak to him I don't always see him inbetween cles or in the corridor.. What do you think? and does he like me? He is a quiet kinda guy
