How to tell if self pierced ear is infected?

i pierced my ear (only one ear, second piercing). i'm really trying to prevent infection especially because my parents dont know yet. I used a sewing needle, but soaked it in alcohol and hydrogen peroixide before putting it in my ear. i used ice to num it too. i did this a little less than 4 days ago; my ears not red anymore but it hurts when i touch it, also i think its a little swollen in the back. i clean it with hydrogen perixide and use anibiotic ointment on it about twice a day. is the all normal? what should i do?? help! thank you!
